Channel 7 Heaven

There is a TV channel based near Immingham that is the last independently funded community channel in the country – and it’s called Channel 7.

They’ve been through a re-brand and I was asked to make some on-sceen elements for them. In this instance it was their logo idents. Here are my efforts! All created in After Effects CS3 with sound effects generated by yours truly.

Serving a Jail Term

Cool job this. I was asked to look at making an intro graphic for a film which gives young people an experience of jail. I suppose the idea is to deter them from entering such an establishment for real. It’s a bit Big Brother-esque, so I drew so influences from that for this short piece.

Let me know if you like it!

Going Commando

I think ‘value for money’ would be the phrase that I would use to describe what my Channel 4 client has had out of me. I’ve had to make several variations of the maps I’ve been designing in order to satisfy the creative whims of the Executive Producer. However, it looks like we’ve come to the end of the process and the film has been signed off by the commissioning editor of Channel 4.

It’s quite an amazing film and will be screened as part of the ‘Revelations’ season on either July 5th or July 12th.

I’ll set my VCR!

Commando Chaplains for Channel 4

Good news today. I’ve been commissioned to produce some of the graphics for a new TV show called ‘Commando Chaplains’. And no, this is not about your local vicar going around without his underpants, but a new programme looking at military Chaplains in Afghanistan.

At the moment I’m designing the maps for the programme. You can see an example of what I’m doing below.

The programme is due to air in June but the first screening to the commissioning editor is on April 22nd, so I’d better get going.

Knee deep in After Effects and interactive DVD

Beat The Intro (if you can)

Beat The Intro 2008 Trailer from Jonathan Richards on Vimeo

Yes, I’ve spent the last few weeks hunkered down with After Effects getting ready the latest version of (once bestseller) Beat The Intro Interactive DVD. Available on Amazon here

At first it’s quite bewildering to re-visit a complex project like this some 12 months later. But we managed to get it done on time and it’s now in the shops. What’s new about this version is the little controller you get with the disc. It’s called a Multi Buzzer Remote and allows proper multi play. Quite neat and seems to work. The wires are a little short though…
