A Messy Church
This is a little promo film about an initiative that currently going on in our church. It’s called Messy Church. An idea to include families into the worship. These guys thought of it www.messychurch.org.uk
Going Commando
I think ‘value for money’ would be the phrase that I would use to describe what my Channel 4 client has had out of me. I’ve had to make several variations of the maps I’ve been designing in order to satisfy the creative whims of the Executive Producer. However, it looks like we’ve come to the end of the process and the film has been signed off by the commissioning editor of Channel 4.
It’s quite an amazing film and will be screened as part of the ‘Revelations’ season on either July 5th or July 12th.
I’ll set my VCR!
Al-Jazzera
Now here’s a weird thing. I was sat here today just checking my email. I noticed that someone had commented on a YouTube video of the Hull Freedom Trail. It was a researcher from Al-Jazzera TV who was looking for someone to comment on a piece they are preparing for Fridays broadcast about Sierra Leone. He wanted me to record something on my web cam and upload it to them for their Global Village Voices. This is a section were members of the public can give their opinion about the issues.
The upshot of this is, that I’ll be appearing on Al-Jazzera (English) on Friday 17th April. Of course you’ll all be watching, so I won’t have to remind you…!
Doing Something Funny for Money
Here’s a little film I made yesterday. It features my darling daughter, Emma, and her best mate, Becca, bringing shame to our family name by hounding innocent members of the public for money in the local Waitrose car park!
The Joy of Christmas
It’s funny how many of us free fall into panic when Christmas comes around. If it’s not our finances that are challenged, then it’s all the organisation required for just two days of so-called celebration. I was particularly struck how miserable everyone was looking when I recently went shopping myself, and how many of us sometimes buy presents out of obligation rather than out of love. To be seen to do the right thing seems important to us.
I was prompted to make a little film about the absurdity of all this and how far away from the original message of Christmas we are. I hope you like it!
Claudio von Planta’s Web Site
If ever you have seen Ewan McGregor’s and Charley Boorman’s Long Way Round and Long Way Down, then you will know that they have been filmed by the third motorcyclist, Claudio von Planta. He’s a Swiss Cameraman/Director (but I won’t hold that against him!) that I became friends with back in 2006. Over the past few months, another friend of mine (John Connolly) and myself have been working on his web site. It’s been a bit of a slow burner, but finally it’s ready to launch. Here’s a sneak peak:
It will be live on www.vonplanta.net and a few other URL’s soon. John does most of the techie stuff (PHP Coding) and I mostly do the look and feel. All very Swiss and efficient in style and functionality I hope.
It’s got a fully featured back end that allows a lot of flexibility so that he can update the site from the depths of the jungle with a Sat link or from his mobile. He can even create pages this way as well as updating his blog and gallery. Very neat.
